The last day in St Joe was pretty uneventful.

There wasn’t much to today’s practice. A lot of walk thru and scout team sessions. The weather was great for the final day, borderline chilly with a few rain showers from time to time. As I was leaving the facilities, workers had already taken down half of the banners and were loading up the team shop. They were ready to get out of town. Head inside for some brief notes and some pictures from the final day of Chiefs Training Camp 2012.

Special Teams

-The team worked pooch punts on long FG attempts during this portion. Was interesting to watch.

Defensive Line Drills

-DL were working their way down the line, avoiding reach blocks.

-Glenn Dorsey was drilling his partner in this session. He has a strong punch.

-Ropati Pitoitua is a monster. He throws guys around with ease.

-Worked on hitting the correct guy when facing zone blocking. Not letting him out of the gate cleanly

-They also worked on diagnosing the play and reacting to what they are seeing.

Linebacker Drills

-Worked on zone coverage. Switching receivers when entering or leaving your zone.

-Chiefs linebackers coach Gary Gibbs was working with Tamba Hali quite a bit in this drill.

Offense vs Scout Team Defense

-Hillis seeing a lot of carries up the middle.

-Jerrell Powe put Rodney Hudson on his back.

-Brady Quinn with 2nd unit today. Hand-off to Shaun Draughn, he made a few miss.

-Cassel hitting Dexter McCluster short is becoming a trend.

-Cassle overthrows Breaston on the fly. Attempts a one handed grab, but is drilled from the side as the ball arrives. Terrance Parks with the big shot.

-Quinn with a bad throw to Steve Maneri in the flat. It’s nearly intercepted by Mikail Baker, but the ball is dropped.

-Ricky Stanzi is sacked by multiple defenders.

-Cassel to Baldwin on slant. Exactly what they were working on with Daboll.

-Donald Stephenson is handling the speed of Gabe Miller.Mirroring him wherever he goes.

Defense vs Scout Team Offense

-Matt Cassel is running sprints behind the action.

-Jacques Reeves and Stanford Routt at CB with 1s.

-David Mims took Amon Gordon for a ride.

-Javier Arenas takes a slight cheap shot at Nate Eachus. Hits him in the back and knocks him to the ground after the play was basically over.

-Quinn hits Maneri on corner route, right in front of Eric Berry.

-Jeremy Horne catches a quick slant from Alex Tanney, Routt in coverage. Horne takes it sprinting 50 yards to the house.

-Tanney with a deep ball on the sideline, Kinnie comes down with the ball in between Jalil Brown and Donald Washington.

-David Mims getting big with Tyson Jackson in run game.

-Eric Berry dropped an easy interception.

Mims with a big punch on Allen Bailey, then worked outside to pick up Justin Houston. David looked good today.

-Jalil Brown with an athletic play to turn into coverage and find the ball. He made a great play.

-Practice ended with some conditioning.
