We have been looking forward to this game since it was the likely BCS Title game matchup in early November. We missed out on the Championship matchup, but we still get to see these two great teams square off. The Ducks and Wildcats didn’t get to this spot without some talent. Check out the potential Chiefs in tonight’s Fiesta Bowl with KState and Oregon.

Kansas City Chiefs: Eye On The Future

Could this Seminole QB be wearing a different “tomahawk” in 2013? (Photo: Orlando Sentinel)

This week we are going to look at 2 specific positions: Quarterback and Inside Linebacker. These are 2 of the bigger needs on the Chiefs and the 2013 NFL Draft should be loaded at each spot. Like last week I am headed to Columbia, MO to watch the Missouri Tigers. This week the opponent has a few more NFL prospects on the field than last week’s opponent, Vanderbilt. Alabama comes to town with their loaded roster, so expect more than 2 pages worth of notes in that post.

As previously mentioned, we are going to be concentrating on the QBs and ILBs this week, with the exception being the Mizzou/Bama game. Kansas City, besides Pro Bowler Derrick Johnson, isn’t really set at either position for now or in the future. We are going to set the wheels in motion this week. Check out these 13 games and prospects, with an Eye On The Chiefs Future! Let me know who you’re watching this week. We’ll have another open thread that I will be updating throughout the day. Have fun with this and enjoy the football.

Kansas City Chiefs: Eye On The Future

Geno Smith faces the Texas Longhorns defense on Saturday. Chiefs fans should have their eyes on this game. (Photo: manolith.com)

Since the last EOTF post, the Chiefs depth has really been tested. Interior line is now paper thin. The defensive secondary has to deal with Brandon Flowers re-injuring his heel. The same heel that kept him out well over a month to begin the season. Kevin Boss is out for the year with a concussion. As much as we all praised Chiefs GM Scott Pioli for his building of the roster during the off-season (It was well deserved praise too) he can’t prevent injuries.

Besides not signing or drafting a QB, Pioli built what many called the “NFL’s deepest roster”. It’s being tested now and possibly long-term. That’s where this post will come in handy. For you,me and even Pioli. We’re going to take a look at 9 games and prospects within those games that may fit into the Chiefs plans in the future.

I’ll be in Columbia, Missouri for the Vanderbilt at Mizzou game on Saturday, scouting from the press box. Now that I am fully equipped with a new laptop, I’ll be commenting throughout the day on different games and prospects in our Saturday Prospect Open Thread. Check it out and comment yourself. We’d love your input on these or any other prospects from around the country. Head inside for this week’s slate of games.

It’s Saturday morning, get your seat and notebook ready. There are 12 games I’ll be watching/DVRing this week with many prospects in each game. As alway, use this as a tool to see who I feel the would fit in with the Chiefs scheme’s and philosophy. It’s also a great guide for where and when the games are on television. Head inside and enjoy.

Saturday night was the first of many games I’ll be scouting from the pressbox for KCCD this college football season. The game started off sloppy and ended that way as well. I took notes on multiple players from each team, so head inside to read what I saw.
