Rapid Reaction: Eric Winston Cut

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

He might not have been a fan favorite, but Winston’s cut is shocking. (Photo: Danny Medley, US Presswire)

Just two days after John Dorsey made great moves signing Dwayne Bowe and Dustin Colquitt to new deals and franchise tagging Branden Albert, they decide to release their best offensive lineman from the year before. It’s clear that this franchise is not done making big moves and the #1 pick is just getting foggier and foggier.

Read on to hear my thoughts on the Winston release.

Kansas City Chiefs: Offseason Checklist

Tuesday, January 1st, 2013

There is a calm currently at Arrowhead, hopefully before a huge storm of changes.

KCCD Editor: Jason Madson

The 2012 season is in the rearview mirror. We know the Chiefs will have a new Head Coach and the number one overall pick. We don’t know who will be making the war room decisions on draft day though. Clark Hunt is taking his time deciding the future of his football team. Will Clark fire Pioli, keep him around or give him a broom and dust pan to earn that large paycheck?

This organization definitely needs to be cleaned from the top down. Whatever is decided, let’s just hope it is quick. The new staff needs time to develop a gameplan for the draft and free agency. Kansas City needs numerous upgrades for the starters and more depth. Check out my list and feel free to add your own or rearrange the order.

Chiefs Training Camp News and Notes: 8/8/2012

Last day of Chiefs camp before Friday’s game against Arizona.

Practice 11 for KCCD in St Joseph, MO is in the books. I’m able to make the 40 minute drive north with my eyes closed. Thankfully we will have a game to discuss very soon and no practices until Monday the 13th. Today I arrived early and caught the last 30 minutes of Cardinals practice. Nothing really to see there. Larry Fitzgerald wasn’t involved in many plays and most of it was at half speed.  We had our first fight in Chiefs Camp today in the Chiefs practice. Head inside for all the details and over 50 pictures from today’s practice.

Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Line: Built to Last

Kansas City Chiefs fans have been spoiled with great offensive lines over the past twenty years. We have grown to love a solid offensive line. It is almost something the people of KC can relate to, hard work and little recognition. Some of that might have been from previous GM Carl Peterson, he made the offensive line a priority when he was in charge.

Carl did bring in some fantastic linemen during his tenure, though. Names like Tim Grunhard, Will Shields, Brian Waters and Willie Roaf were all his doing. He made some mistakes along the way, too. Trezelle Jenkins and Victor Riley (both first round picks) were bad selections. Fast forward to the Scott Pioli era, and we are in damn good shape, again.

Kansas City Chiefs Schedule Breakdown (Weeks 5-9)

Chiefs defense in scream mask

Check out my thoughts on the Chiefs schedule weeks 1-4.

Week 5 v. Baltimore Ravens

This should be a good one. These teams are similarly built, with strong defenses and ground games. The Ravens defense is more proven than the Chiefs, but their stars are getting older. The last time Baltimore was in Kansas City, it wasn’t pretty. They handed the Chiefs a humiliating playoff loss. That was the game where people said they saw Charlie Weis at local restaurants during the second half.
