Kansas City Chiefs Scouting Report: Week 3 – Eagles

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Dontari Poe will be a huge factor in tonight’s game, what else should we look for vs the Eagles? (Photo:

The Eagles present a different matchup than they have seen this season. A strong run game v. the vertical compliment that is Mike Vick’s arm. Versus the Jags…the Chiefs had to worry about defending a limited area. MJD’s inside running, Gabbert’s right side throwing…they succeeded. Against the Cowboys…key was the vertical passing game, took some lumps, got it right in 2nd half…came away with a narrow victory.

Football is a game of matchups…what I am going to attempt to do is bring you those matchups, and where those matchups play in the Chiefs favor.  This Report is broken up into 4 categories…The Pass, The Run, and how the Chiefs defend it.

This week the Chiefs face the 2nd best passing game from a year ago.  It’s an offense that get yards by the chunk…and can score anywhere with the run or passing game.  Defensively this is a group that can give up yards in the pass game, but do well not to get beat deep.

What sticks out for me leading up to this, is the contrast between the clubs.  Both teams are built to exploit each other.  The Chiefs with their outside run game and ball control passing…The Boys with their ability to spread the Chiefs out, which has been issue for this defense.

So lets get to it….

After taking in Chiefs Camp practices over the last week, it has become easier to determine who is who. Without looking in the guide or even needing to see their number, each player has a different style or ability. Some players are there just to fill a roster spot, others have a legit shot to make the final roster. Here is who I like to make the Chiefs 53-man roster and 8-man practice squad:

Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp: Notes from Day 1

Saturday, July 27th, 2013

Welcome to the 2013 Chiefs Training Camp.

KCCD Editor: Jason Madson

There were no pads, but today was a great day.

The first official day of Chiefs Training Camp is in the books, and it was a success.  In front of a record crowd, the Chiefs hustled thru the first full=squad practice of the preseason. We saw glimpses of how the offense and defense would look and a few special teams sessions, as well. The action was not only on the field, but off it as well. Eric Fisher signed his deal “officially” about 2 hours before camp. With Fisher signed, the Chiefs were complete, or so we thought. Dwayne Bowe Was a mysterious absence in the first practice.
