The biggest matchup of the season features two teams with a lot of great history. Both teams showcase an abundance of future NFL talent. The players previewed here are players that have the greatest chance to be future Chiefs.

Barrett Jones, OL:

Barrett Jones has been a very versatile player for the tide during his four seasons. He’s spent time at tackle, guard, and switched to center for his senior season. He could help shore up a very questionable KC interior offensive line and would provide great value in the 2nd or 3rd round. He’s a great in the run game and good in the passing game. Keep an eye on how he performs against a very talented Notre Dame defensive line.

Chiefs Needs in 2013: The Early Edition

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

The Kansas City Chiefs went in to the 2012 NFL Draft needing to address several key areas of the roster, mainly overall depth.  The lack of football players on the roster was exposed due to injuries to many key players in key positions.  Those injuries forced some players who had no business being on an NFL roster in to contributing roles.

Media and fans alike thought the Chiefs needed to address the quarterback position yet you heard very differently from some of the Chiefs’ decisions makers.  Matt Cassel is a winner.  Apparently he is one of a handful of quarterbacks with 2 seasons of 10 wins or more over the last 5 seasons.  I never bought in to the immediate need for a quarterback because the only ways Matt Cassel was not going to be the starting quarterback week 1 in 2012 were if the Chiefs drafted Luck, Griffen or signed Manning.  Those options were not going to occur so Scott Pioli and Co. had to sell the fans and media, once again, on Matt Cassel.
