Sitting around the TV on a Saturday discussing the finer points of your Friday night escapades and the intricacies of the 3-4 interior tackle gap control(O, wait, that’s probably just me and my friends), inevitably the word best spills over into the conversation. Who is the best? Who is best quarterback, receiver, tackle etc.

But this year with players like Manti Te’o, Alec Ogletree and CJ Mosley single-handily dominating opposing offenses, a renaissance of “best” linebacker talk has spilled over into living-rooms, churches and bars (The last two are not mutually-exclusive for ND fans). ND fans are championing their Hawaiian Messiah Manti Te’o as the best thing since Charlie Weis decided to leave the Golden Corral and South Bend altogether. Even Alabama fans are proclaiming that one of their defensive players might be one of the best in the country.

Broncos vs. Chiefs Game Preview

Week 12 brings the Broncos to Kansas City for the first meeting of the season in this AFC West rivalry matchup. The last meeting between the teams was 1/1/12 with the Chiefs winning that game 7-3. The last meeting at Arrowhead was 11/13/11, with the Broncos winning that game 17-10. The Chiefs hold the all-time series lead against the Broncos, 56-48.

Kansas City Chiefs Projected 53 Man Roster 2.0

This is my second roster projection of the preseason, out of 3, this was much tougher than the first. I honestly believe that 46 players are safe on the current roster, but those last few are going to be up for grabs until the last day. I went with 7 offensive linemen in this projection and 10 defensive backs. A couple of the selections may surprise you, but that is how it usually goes on cut down day. Check the second page for explanations on the compilation of the roster, why I chose one player over another and who is on the bubble. Head inside for my 53 man roster and practice squad.

Tamba Hali Suspended Week 1 Vs Falcons

Tamba Hali has some explaining to do.

Tamba Hali has been suspended for the week 1 home opener against the Atlanta Falcons and fined an additional game’s pay. This is terrible news for the Chiefs as Hali is needed on the field and has ridiculous amounts of fans that don’t know what to think. We will keep you up to date with any news or statements from the Chiefs or Tamba Hali. Here is the statement from an NFL Spokesperson:

Tamba Hali of the Kansas City Chiefs has been suspended without pay for the team’s first 2012 regular-season game and fined one additional game check for violating the NFL policy on substance abuse.

Hali will be eligible to return to the Chiefs’ active roster on Monday, September 10 following the team’s September 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Hali is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games.

I’m hoping it was an accidental overdose of flaxseed or something like that.

UPDATE: Here is Tamba’s statement on the suspension-

“I apologize to my teammates, the Hunt family, the Kansas City Chiefs organization and most importantly, our fans. I accept the discipline from the league and will return week 2 of the NFL season with a commitment to erase this mistake with my play on the field and my conduct off of it.”

Chiefs Training Camp News and Notes: 8/16/2012

The last day in St Joe was pretty uneventful.

There wasn’t much to today’s practice. A lot of walk thru and scout team sessions. The weather was great for the final day, borderline chilly with a few rain showers from time to time. As I was leaving the facilities, workers had already taken down half of the banners and were loading up the team shop. They were ready to get out of town. Head inside for some brief notes and some pictures from the final day of Chiefs Training Camp 2012.
